Some of you may have heard of this concept and many of you will not have and that is what we need to change...
The Depressed Cake Shop is the brain child of Emma Thomas AKA Miss Cakehead in 2013 to raise awareness of Mental Health Issues. Although not currently involved in the initiative, this concept has caught on around the world, inspiring many pop-up shops in America and Australia and has formed a community via social media on the Facebook group The Depressed Cake Shop

The concept is simple - to have bakers donate cake and cookies but only decorated in grey. This is to particularly represent how people suffering with Depression feel - that all is grey and the world has lost all colour.
All proceeds are then donated to local mental health charities of the groups choice.
Spurred on by Mental Health Week this coming May and plans to co-ordinate globally pop-up shops for the anniversary of the concept in August, I have decided to endeavour to get a pop-up going here in Thanet, Kent. We have an AMAZING baking community in Thanet and I believe we can make this work.
I have designed a logo and set up a facebook page for The Depressed Cake Shop Thanet where I shall be posting information, downloadable logos, posters and so on. DCS Glasgow (Depressed Cake Shop) member Julie Langdale has made this great graphic to get people started and has also been featured in this article too!
i am currently in the porocess of drafting information to ask venues for the use of their space (for free!) to hold a DCS and inviting anyone who wishes to bake, donate packaging, their time to man the stall for an hour, their business services etc.
